Deployment Solution

We are installing a deployment solution using a PXE server with Client Management Solution 7.1, once WinPE operating systema has downloaded and starts on personal computer continually gives errors "Restarting DHCP client service: No retry .. " in "Validating network connection (validation criteria =- 169,254) .. and the image don't downloaded

Any help will be appreciated

This is normally due to the correct nic drivers not being part of the WinPE image.  You'll want to add these to the PE image and try again.

Hi, 1. You can use the PXE configuration tool and you select the menu option that you want to modify and click Edit, then click edit boot image. Make sure you have x86 or x64 selected and WinPE if that is the configuration that you are going to modify. That should all already be selected if you have already created your PXE menu item. 2. When you come to the next screen you will see <<Edit, click this and this is where you will add the drivers for the new NIC. If you are using WinPE 2.1 you will want to use the Vista or Windows 7 driversThe screen here is self-explanatory. Then just click next and keep your defaults and it will compile your new configuration with the new NIC driver. Brian please correct me if I am incorrect in steps to update NIC drivers. Sunil, Your process is basically correct for a 6.x solution.  Also, I believe for WinPE 2.1, you will use vista drivers.  I can't speak for a 7.x solution as I have not used PXE in that environment yet, so I cannot speak to  the actual procedure to add drivers.

Yes, it is specific to DS 6.9 SP 4 ( as I am on it). Even I am unsure for 7. For drivers, Yes again... I remem I was being informed specifically that I have to use Vista drivers as we are using WinPE 2.1

In the Symantec Management Console, go to Settings | Deployment | Driver Management, then click on the Preboot tab to add specific preboot drivers to the driver database.

I am having this same issue. I have even tried adding the drivers in Settings | Deployment | Driver Management and after I add the drivers they still don't show up. Also there is no list of drivers in the Preboot tab.
