Endpoint Protection

Is Symantec Endpoint intelligent enough to know that it is being installed on a Windows Server, and excludes certain directories and files automatically?

Microsoft recommends that these be excluded:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822158

What about Active Directory and Exchange?  Are there automatic exclusions for those, or do we have to create all the exclusions manually?

Yes SEP will detect AD and Exchange and automatically create the necessary exclusions See here http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102400
