  • 1.  Failed to restore WinXP Sys volume properly using Ghost V15 standalone

    Posted Apr 03, 2018 07:56 AM

Background:  Using standalone Ghost V15 Boot CD and a WinXp system HDD

Made a backup image to a plugin USB  storage device, no errors reported

Shutdown everything , replaced imaged HDD with a blank one

Re-booted to Ghost CD and initiated recover image to new hdd

Selected make bootable, restore MBR, Then began the restore

Restore progressed smoothly until the end when Ghost prompted for "recovery CD" or similar msg.  Tried the system WINXP CD..nothing happens

I cancelled restore, rebooted system.  Win XP boots, but I am left with desktop wallpaper and no way to login.

I suspect GHOST was looking for addition s/w , but what? Can anybody point me in the right direction to enable me to get to the login screen?

    Thanks in advance

    Gord

    Hi Gordo,

If you're using the standard Norton Ghost, then you need to head on to the forums on the link below:

    https://community.norton.com/forums/norton-ghost

This is for Symantec Ghost Solution Suite.

    Thanks!

Cool, could you perhaps mark the solution to close it off?

    Thanks!
