Endpoint Encryption

I'm using Encryption Desktop to encrypt and unencrypt files passed back and forth over an FTP site with a vendor.  The files I unencrypt have same name plus date that indicates to me which file is new, i.e. Manual_Check_Import.CO.BDQ.052214.xml.

No matter what the file name, when I unencrypt the file and extract it to wherever I need it in order to view and process, the software names it "-&12" with no particular file format.

Is there no way to preserve name and original file format when unencrypting?

This sounds like the other party is using GPG, as this is a feature of GPG, nothing to do with PGP.  I may be wrong though.  Can you confirm if they have the same issue?

Sorry for the delay.  Getting the information has not been easy.  The files they send over do have gpg extensions.  When they unencrypt my files, they get a prompt about file name, see attached.  The odd thing is that the original file name it's recommending is not the name I gave the file but the second one in the screenshot.

Regardless, this doesn't bother them, and they don't know enough about the desktop encryption product to figure out what they'd have to do on their side, if anything, to fix.  The only thing they thought was that I'm unencrypting in PGP Zip and there should be some other way to unencrypt.  I'm not technical or a whiz at this software, but I tried everything I licensed and there doesn't seem to be an alternative.

So, does it seem like this is just something I'm going to have to live with?  I can work around it.  It's just annoying.  Thanks!!!
