  • 1.  Files in Self-Extracting Archive

My old corporate work PC used Symantec Encryption. I made a self-extracting archive on that computer to back-up my data. The archive is an executable and is 1.2GB. I no longer have this machine.

My new corporate work PC uses McAfee. I burned the 1.2GB self extracted archive on the old machine to a DVD. I copied the file to my new PC.

I double click the file and it runs a long time then opens the Symantec screen and asks for my password. I put in my password and it runs a long time and says it has successfully extracted all of the files. When I look, however, there is only 1 file from my old PC that someone else authored and it's a small Word file.

I know the data is in there, but it won't extract to my new PC. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi, any help on this would be appreciated. When I run the self extracting Symantec Endpoing Encryption executable file it runs overnight then says it was successful. However, it only extracts a single 1 megabyte powerpoint file, not the 1.22GB of data. I know there are hundreds of files in the self extracting executable file, but only 1 is extracted.
