Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

I seem to have an issue with at least one XP machine ( I know i need to get us off of them). When the Symantec Endpoint Firewall is enabled I am unable to ping internal or external addresses ( but i can ping the loopback) or have the computer see changes to Group Policy. When i disable the Firewall for the minimum 15 min on the client side the computer pings perfectly fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it still has the issue. Any help is appreciated.

Quick question - Is this policy to allow ICMP applied to the group the client is in?

yes , right now i have created a separate policy just for this computer that is having ICMP issues and this rule was created in that policy

Are other clients able to ping with the fw enabled?

yes they are able to ping with no issues.

Hmmm, seems something else is going on. I would start by running SymDiag to see if there is an issue with the client:

Download SymDiag to detect Symantec product issues

Is the Base Filter Engine service running?

If not, you may need to get a case open.

On the XP machine it does not have the Base Filtering Engine service even included in the Services.msc

That's a problem. The SEP firewall depends on it.

I cant find how to add the BFE service to a WinXP computer

Sorry, just saw XP, which I don't believe BFE applied to. Probably best to get a case open at this point.
