  • 1.  Firewall suspected of preventing certain applications from functioning

    Hello,

One of my organization's (Linkdood Technologies Sdn. Bhd.) endpoint security solution is having trouble with executing certain functions on computers installed with and has Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition active.

Brief explaination of my organization's software (Linkdood Endpoint Protection or LEP):

    1. LEP consist of 2 applications which are; (i.) Server application and (ii.) Client application.
    2. The server application is responsible for creating certain functions and pushing these functions over the network to the client application.
    3. The client application executes these functions (eg. Send message announcements to client devices and etc).

I have Symantec Endpoint Protection active on one of my clients and I found that LEP does not work as intended on that client. I suspect, somehow, Symantec Endpoint Protection's firewall is blocking certain connections between the server and the client. By looking at the history, I noticed there's a bunch of connections being blocked by the firewall. I suspect one of these blocked connection is interfering with LEP.

Also, when I install LEP on the client device, Symantec Endpoint Protection notifies me that it is a suspected application and recommends quarantine.

Question is, how do I whitelist LEP's processes, files and connections from being interrupted by Symantec Endpoint Protection. FYI, LEP is verified by a trusted digital signature.

Attached is one picture showing part of firewall history and another picture showing quarantine warning appearing when I install LEP.

Policies tab and under Services >> Endpoint Protection select your policy.

Under Computer Protection are the custom exclusions. Add it there to see if it takes.

Hello Brian, thanks for your solution. This solves the issue on one device. Is there any way I can include this software to Symantec's virus definition exclusion list?
