AFAIK, the recovery discs are the only way of accessing a disk encrypted by SEE. From the sounds of it, you know how to use it and its capabilities, so I won't go into them.
I'd recommend you subscribe to the below article, essentially voting for Symantec to bring the capability of slaving encrypted drives to another machine in PGP/SED, to SEE:

It's also worth noting that your SEE license allows you to use PGP/SED for drive encryption if you want. Perhaps swapping over is something you'd like to consider...
