    Firstly, I think it is unreasonable for Symantec not to offer support to trial users in setting up what is a very complex product. I have spent several days getting the server and managed desktop components working and finally it is starting to make sense. However, I have experienced the BSOD referred to in article TECH248240 when accessing Office documents and am hoping that the suggested hotfix 10.4.1 MP2 HF2 may help (although I am generating the desktop installer from the server so not sure if the hotfix only applies to unmanaged installations).

    However, as a trial user not only do I get no support but also no serial number so I can't access fileconnect to download any updates.

    Here's hoping someone from Symantec can help.

    To be honest Stuart, I don't know of many (if any) software companies that actually do offer support when in a trial phase. This gets covered in the maintenance agreement that is taken when buying the software, and with a trial period there is nothing signed between the end user and the software company concerned.

    Are you battling to get hold of the patch itself? You can try sending the admin of the forum (RG Donaldson - link on this page top left) a PM and ask her to see who can help you if you don't come right.

    I did manage to get hold of a trial serial number following the above advice. This enabled  me to get the latest version and confirm that it resolves my problem.
