I've been asked, and I can find nothing 1 way or another - Is Ghost on the chopping block or deos Symantec have long-range plans for it?
No, I have NOT seen or heard any rumor, but someone here I suspect is perhaps missing all the stuff ghost can do, and seeing newer Microsoft functionalities and reading into it...........
So please don't go starting any rumors yourself based on my simple question................!  ;-)
what are the long-term plans for Ghost?
    thanks.

One of the most helpful people on the ghost forum was laid of this week....so who knows? Considering about 1/4 of the fixes to issues on the bugginess of 2.5 is to switch to another product....? I'd just love to be able to have Ghost join machines to our domain more than 1 out of 20 (and random at that) machines.

Any kind of announcement about future product versions, releases, dates and other such things is something that is strictly the responsibility of the product manager who currently has the product; for other employees, saying anything about those things when it hasn't been make public by the PM is grounds for dismissal, so basically this isn't something you can easily get answered here on these forums. Once a PM has announced something it's fair game to repeat it, but not otherwise.

As far as I'm aware, there have been no public announcements regarding Ghost Solution Suite since early-mid last year when the previously announced roadmap was withdrawn. While that's unfortunate - as a lack of information is not helpful to customers and a vacuum tends to invite speculation - until there's an announcement from the Product Manager no-one can say much of anything.

However, Ghost Solution Suite and Ghost the cloning program aren't quite the same thing; the Deployment Solution product line also uses Ghost to image disks and so for roadmap information that's another place it's worth keeping an eye on.

The best way to go about getting this information made available is for customers to exert leverage through their account managers (who can pass feedback to the PM very effectively), and/or at conferences like Symantec Vision when such things can often get announced and product managers may be available to be talked with.

that's actually a good enough answer....... and the sort I was looking for in this case.
Of course, if there was something from the higher-level, in our case that would be VERY handy as we budget in a very tight state budget - but what is here is pretty good and I can at least say "nothing official".......
