Hello all. I just need some information. I currently purchaced Ghost GSS, and the 1 issue that I am running in to with PXE boot is that I do not have a driver for the Realtek RTL8112L. So the computer that has this nic can not connect to the GCS.

Now I did download the driver for this NIC, but it does not have the DOS driver. Can I use the .INF inplace of the .DOS as the manufacture does not seem to have a .DOS driver for this onboard NIC.

I would strongly recommend that you use WinPE rather than PCDOS for imaging. DOS is increasingly unsupported by chipset manufacturers and you will also find that the SATA storage in modern machine is also not recognised by DOS as it has no SATA support. For this reason, some bioses still include a hard disk compatibility mode that emulates the older disk interface.

An INF file is a text file that provides plug and play information for windows drivers. It is not a driver in itself and is unable to replace a .DOS file.

WinPE is a very compatible enviroment and looks like this is the way I will have to go for on desk restore. On the otherhand Realtek was kind enough to provide the .dos driver that I needed for PXE. While I set it all up, I found that using the old netbootdisk is still working well, and that the GC is working for the win7 x64 machines.

By the way. In case anyone needs it, I can provide you with the .dos for the RTL8112L On board LAN (ASUS Motherboard) Just send me a tell as I do not know if Symantec would like for me to post it here.
