  • 1.  Ghost USB reconnect loses history

    Hello,

I've setup regular norton ghost backups with incremental sets, and new base point quarterly. Everything works fine until I disconnect and reconnect the USB drive. After that, ghost doesn't recognize the existing recovery points, and the next time I run a backup, it creates a new base point. I thought the purpose of naming the drive within ghost was exactly for this. i.e. so you could disconnect/reconnect and even change drive letters, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

Is there a way to tell ghost to re-import the history from a backup destination, so that it can continue making incrementals? I've searched the help, and this forum, and couldn't find anyone else with this problem.

I figured out that if I disconnect USB drive, boot computer, then connect USB drive after I'm logged in and running, then Ghost can not find the historical info. However, if I connect the drive before logging on (and before the ghost service in the system tray starts), then it finds the historical info no problem.
