    Hi,

I'm wondering if I can give users the option to right click and scan a file before they unpack it or execute it?

by default they will have the option to rigt click and scan
this option is not available on 64bit OS machines.
here is the link for 64bit OS not having scan option on right click

You can present this as an idea in idea section of this form..
So that symantec developers will look into it

    Hi Rossworth1,

Are you referring to 64-bit clients?  Unfortunately there's no right-click and "Scan for viruses" possible on 64-bit SAV or SEP clients.  There's some more information at  Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 compatibility with 64-bit platform

You may wish to submit an idea (enhancement request) in the forum's "Ideas" section!

    Thanks and best regards,

    Mick

right click and "scan now" option you will not get in two conditions
    1.Os ids 64 bit
    2.You are in RDP sec.
For both ideas are present in idea section .You can also vote for that
    ref:
context menue "scan for Viruses" in Terminal session
Context menu entry for "Scan for viruses" on 64-bit platform.

I guess this has been the same since SAV.. This is just  a limitation with 64 bit OS ... SAV/SEP is basically a 32 bit native application... So I guess the entire engine architecture has to be reengineered for the 64 bit scan, tamper, and all those to be enabled... Do you think the developers haven't thought about it so far?.... I guess somewhere the feasibility hits! ... So, I am afraid this idea wont be appreciated by Symantec... :( ...

    Cheers,,
    Visu.
