This maybe a newbie question, so I apologise.

    BMG 8.0.3-11

    Problem:

In my MX record I have

    my.domain

    10 BMG.my.domain
    20 Store and Forward Service.my.isp

The secondary server (pref 20) provides a store and forward service in case BMG is unavailable for whatever reason.

The problem I have is when either BMG is unavailable (due to network load) or spam is bounced off of the secondary server (pref 20 in MX), the reputation of the IP for the secondary server declines due to the amount of spam coming to BMG via the store and forward service and senders receive a 450 try again later error.

It order to stop the store and forward service from getting black listed by BMG (ended up with reputation class of 8), I have had to add it to the good senders list.  However, according to the manual once you add an IP to the good senders list, you lose the ability to spam filter anything coming from it.

Is there anyway around this catch 22 ? I need the store and forward service to be able to deliver, but I still want to spam filter anything from it without it getting black listed (class 8 or 9).

I assume disabling connection classification is an option, just wondered if there was a better way of doing it..

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

you can add your secondary server  (the IP address SBG sees these messages coming from) into the Internal Mail Hosts (Administration > Hosts > hostname > Internal Mail Hosts). That will prevent SBG to create bad reputation for it but still messages will be processed as usual (AV, spam, etc).

    HTH,
