  • 1.  GSS 2.0 and WinPE 2.0 - How to?

Hi, I am new to the forums, but I have been using Ghost for many years. I'm not having any luck finding good documentation on how to use GSS 2.0 with WinPE 2.0.

I would like to use this solution due to the inconsistant results of using DOS-based network boot disks. It seems that every new PC that arrives requires hours of configuring work arounds when using DOS.

    Hi Derek,

There is no different documentation for Ghost32, since the command line is same as Ghost.

If you are cloning machines manually (without Console) all you have to do is to boot to WinPE and then run Ghost32.

If you have any specific question, please let us know.

    Regards

I downloaded the Microsoft Windows AIK, installed it, and followed the directions to create a bootable CD. I followed the instructions to include other applications, and included Ghost32.exe (No other files). I wanted Ghost to start automatically, so I created an "Winpeshl.ini" per Microsoft instructions. Ghost starts, but the ability to join a Ghostcast session is greyed out. I know that the network adapter driver loads because I created a CD without Ghost and can get an IP address, etc. I must be doing something wrong or missing a step, but I can't find it.

    Hi,

There are two possibilities, first is Ghost32 starting before networking service starts, and the second is for some reason, the way you started Ghost stopping WinPE executing the commands to start networking.

Could you try running Ghost32 manually after booting to WinPE?

    Hi,

    Hope you had a good 4th. I will create a disk that doesn't auto-start Ghost32. I'll let you know.
