  • 1.  GSS 2.0.1 image issue

    Posted Jul 06, 2007 05:22 PM

I am running GSS v2.0.1, my clients are XP SP2 systems (Dell and HP).  Whenever I run a deploy image task it fails on the “To target operating system”.  The event detail is “Client timed out”.  When I check on the clients they are fine and show up in the Machine Groups as being alive.  I can run other tasks without issue.  I have tried using both multi-cast and unicast.  The clients are not on the same sub-net as the server.  However, I wasn’t having this problem with GSS 1.1.

    Any ideas?

Also, I can pull up an image using sysprep with no error.  Last, the image had the latest virtual client installed on it before it was pulled up.

    Chris,

It seems many people are having similar types of issues 2.0/.1, I am. Browse the forums a little, and you'll find several issues similar to yours.

If I could dare make a personal recommendation, including error messages,  task logs, system specs (NIC seems most important) and what you observe occuring as your post may garner a more technical response.

Thanks and I'll poke around the list some.  Also, I'll get the log information posted in a bit.

This is the only thing I see in ngctw32.log:
This is not caused by a network event.  It happens every time I run the task and it doesn't matter what type of computer or which image I use.

I also am seeing this issue when deploying images.  I just did the live update to version 11.0.1.1533 on 7/5/07.  After my image task I get the "Client timed out" error and the remaining portions of my task fail.  My clients however are all shown as disconnected in my console and I can't do anything with them again until I uninstall and reinstall the ghost client.  I can contact the comptuers and do the reinstall of the Ghost client but I can't just overwrite the client, I have to remove and then install for it to work.  This just started happening after the live update.

I was able to resolve my issue by increasing the “Configuration Server waits:” value from 5min to 20min.  You get to this setting through the console, then select Tools, Options, and it on the Preferences tab in the middle.
