  • 1.  GSS 2.5 (with LiveUpdate 3 applied) and Ghost Explorer image span prompt

    Posted Aug 09, 2010 03:08 PM

Created an image using Ghost that had spanning DISABLED.  My resulting image is: 1.90 GB (2,041,384,960 bytes - Size on Disk).  When I attempt to open the image via Ghost Explorer it's prompting me for the span file, yet none was ever created!  I've done this multiple times and always seem to get this span prompt when the image is close to the normal 2.0GB span boundary.

Any idea how to resolve this easily?!?

Did you use a -split=0 switch in the command line to disable the spanning ?

    Thanks,

    Prasanna,

If I remember correctly, I started Ghost using GHOST -Z9 (for highest compression) and when it launched entered options to disable spanning and then began the image capture.  The image deploys fine I just cannot open it using Ghost Explorer.  I get the message stated above when attempting to.

    Bryan,

I think you disabled the spanning option in the ghost executable. If you modified it there did you save the settings ?

I think a better way to do this is while creating the boot package. You can add the switch -split=0 in the parameter tab and your resultant ghost image will be a single Gho file.

    Thanks,
    Prasanna

    Prasanna,

Yes, I saved the setting but regardless how I disabled spanning my resulting image is: 1.90 GB (2,041,384,960 bytes - Size on Disk).  When I attempt to open the .gho image file via Ghost Explorer it's prompting me for a span file, yet none was ever created!  This is my issue.  Why is Ghost Explorer prompting for a span file that 1) was never created and 2) does not exist???

I need to resolve this issue ASAP.
