  • 1.  GSS 3.1 : Computers status & informations no longer updated

    Dear GSS users,

    Our campus has a microsoft 2008 R2 domain and we are using the GSS 3.1 console with the latest maintenance pack 3.

    We have installed the DSAgent client on all our WIndows 10 1511 computers, and they have converged in the console.

    Infortunately, if we delete the computers from the console and let them regenerate, the display name is wrong (new_computer), and the domain association is not shown.

    The only way to refresh their informations is to unistall the DSagent client et reinstall it. Plese note that we're using a direct IP connection to the console (no multicast, no data encryption either)

    Can anyone report the same behaviour ? is it a bug ?

    Your help would be pretty much appreciated.

    Notre parc informatique est en domaine microsoft 2008 R2 et nous utilison la console GSS 3.1, avec le maintenance pack 3 le plus récent.

    Nous avons installé le client DSagent sur tout nos ordinateurs Windows 10 1511, et nous constatons que si nous supprimons les ordinateurs de la console, ils reviennent sous le nom générique "new_computer", et leur propriétes n'indiquent ni leur nom réel, ni leur appartenance au domaine. Le seul moyen d'actualiser ces informations et de desinstaller le client DSagent et de le réinstaller. Nous utilisons une connection direct IP à la console (pas de multicast, pas d'encryption)

    Qu'est ce que c'est que ce phénoméne ? est-il connu ?

    In the console, check the following.

    Tools > Options > Global Tab

    See if you have selected the option for "Sync display names"

    That's the case already.

    On the same tab, there's this option which says "don't update configuration data in case of a failed configuration task", and it's currently checked.

    Here's some informations about how we override the default parameters of our production DSagents with a predefined set:

    - Direct connection to the console through 172.17.1.19 / port 402

    - Allow remote control

    - no encrypted communications between agents / server

    We suffered from this weird behaviour from day one.
