  • 1.  Help with EDM policy creation

    Hi All,

We're working to expand our use of EDM to protect for PII leakage and I'm a bit stuck on policy creation.

Is there a way to create a policy to detect for one fixed column and one or more other columns? For example, Social Security Number and one or more of Last Name, Address, City, State, Zip, and Birth Date.

I could do it by setting up detecion in the policy using a bunch of rules with an 'or' separator (SSN & Last Name OR SSN & Birth Date OR SSN & Address) or I could create a whole lot of individual rules for each combination - but I'm trying to keep it tidy.

    Thanks in Advance

    Sunil

    Hi Sunil,

In this situation to keep things tidy I would potentially go down the EDM route (Exact Data Matching) whereby you create an excel sheet with you're required columns and some example data. The example data doesn't need to be valid but it does need to match the format etc of a SSN for example.

When you have your sample data if you save this as a CSV file and upload it into DLP via Manage - Data Profiles - Exact Data - Add Exact Data Profile.

Upload your CSV file, the first indication this has worked is DLP will import each column and allow you to select which field mappings you'd like,

    Hope this helps,
