    Posted Apr 18, 2017 08:03 PM

I need assistance removing the encryption software from my computer.  I cannot even start the computer.  The person I hired to find out what is wrong needs to remove the encryption software.  We were told by Symantec support that I need to pay $140+ to get support to remove software I don't want to use?  This is outrageous.  I don't appreciate being held hostage.  I just need to remove this product which is currently rendering my computer completely unusable.

I have Encryption Desktop version 10.3.2

Please call me at 949-285-4270 or email sdhattan@att.net

    Thank you,

Firstly let us know that how did you install the Symantec Encryption Software? And whether your machine is encrypted or not? If Yes then follow below steps:

    1. You may use a recovery ISO image.

    2. You may use the HDD as a slave in another machine having Symantec PGP.

    Hope this Helps!!

Thanks Sayand.  I am Susie's computer consultant.

The link to tech article 149679 directs to # 214378 for the ISO recovery file

There are 14 different recovery images for version 10.3.2 listed.   How do I know which file is the correct one?

    Regards,

Thank you Sayand.  I installed the software by downloading from the website, with the help of the Symantec technical support, and yes, the computer is encrypted currently.

    Hello Jim,

You may check the version of the PGP by going to the PGP server and then clicking on systems.

@SUSAN HATTAN If you have installed PGP with the help of Symantec Tech Support then they may help you out to know the version of the PGP installed in your System.

Thanks Sayand.   I'm not aware of a PGP server.   The product was downloaded and installed on a stand alone laptop which does not boot.   Thus we would like to remove encryption to run repair tools on the boot manager.

Sayand:   The article below has 14 different recovery images but no version or information for each file; only incrementing file names.

    Which file should I use?

In this case, You need to contact Symantec support for the correct version. Else it may cause data loss.
