    The Issue I am having trouble with is one that SHOULD work but is not.  Let me explain everything in as much detail as I can.  I have a Windows Vista Ultimate Computer serving as the ghost configuration server.  I also have an XP Pro computer that has a ghost client on it.  What I am trying to do is take an image of the XP computer and store it on this Vista computer.  I initially had to download the sysprep for windows XP onto this server PC, and I'm pretty sure I have that down correctly.  (I have sysprep.exe and setupcl.exe 5.1.2600.2180 for Windows XP)  I really don't think the problem is with sysprep but I'm including that information just in case.  My problem is that once it gets to the Clone stage, it immediately comes up with an error and it ceases to operate...the XP computer mentions this and then restarts.  I have no idea why it is doing this and would appreciate any help anyone could offer.  Before I show the log, I am also sometimes having issues with it timing out...the last time I thought that it could just time out, I hit enter on the screen(the XP computer) and it then went to the next part....I don't think that is something I should have to do.  Also, before it gets to the part where it actually runs Sysprep(you know, where the DOS windows show up) it shows the Windows Vista load screen on the windows Xp computer....which I find perplexing but perhaps something you could explain.  Anyway, here is the full error log, with the only edit that I am excluding the name of my computer:

    Hi,

    Error file indicates that the server did not accept the connection. I noticed that you have selected directed broadcast for the operation, have you tried without it? (Ghostcast uses unicast anyway when creating images). Do you have any firewalls enabled in the server? If it is not MS or Symantec, you will need to configure it to allow Ghostcast connections.

    2.5 uses WinPE as the preOS by default. We use WinPE 2.0, which is Vista WinPE and that's the reason you see the Vista start screen at the client, when it is booting to PreOS.

    Hi Krish,

    I may have a firewall on on the computer running the server.  You think this is probably the problem?  The firewall is the basic microsoft firewall, FYI, but I also have Spybot-SDResident running.  Again, you're sure this is probably the problem?  I'm asking this from home.

    Hi,

    It is difficult to say for sure, but what seems to be happening is client connects to the GhostCast server, but does not start creating the image at all, but server terminates the session. This could be due to many reasons. I was just trying to eliminate the most common issues. Where do you try to create the image?

    This is a basic operation and must be something to do with the particular environment, since this does not happen in other systems. Since it is a test system, I think both server and client are in the same network. Could you change the direct broadcast to unicast (or don't force the mode) and try it too?

    Ghost is added to the exception list of Vista Firewall. Unless it was changed after the installation, it should not be a problem. We do not specifically handle spybot.
