  • 1.  HOW TO ADD UNC PATCH TO POLICIES IN SPBE CLOUD

    Posted Sep 28, 2016 08:02 AM

    Hi!!!

I need to know to add an UNC patch to policies in cloud console. I need to exclude one path like this:

    \\server\path\another_path

I know that if i had the path mapped would be easy but i cant map de path.

    And another question:

if i want to exclude one file but this file is in diferents locations (for example in PC1 is in "c:\program files\file.exe"  ,but in PC2 is in "c:\file.exe" , how can i do in the policies of the cloud console?

    Thank you very much!!!!

The option 'Exclude Mapped Network Drives (Desktops & Laptops Only)' is available so that may be worth looking at.

For the file in multiple locations, you can add multiple folder exclusions to one policy.

    thank for your reply!!

To the first question i cant map de path and i have checked "Exclude Mapped Network Drives (Desktops & Laptops Only)" .

To the second question is just that i dont want to do.

In the previous version of console (SEPM, not cloud) this things could be done very easy.

According to the SEP SBE Administrator's Guide:

The accepted formats for a File exclusion path include:

    ■ [drive letter]:\path\filename
    ■ [path_macro]\path\filename
    ■ Wildcards and trailing "\" are not accepted

That last rule means that you cannot use this format:    C:\*\file.exe

If you want to specifically exclude a file, you must specify location.

And I have to question, if you need to exclude a UNC, how is it that you cannot map that path?  What, exactly, is preventing you from doing so?

Because its a shorcut to an app with that path for launching. Users dont need to know more.

Hmm, could have sworn I posted...

Anyway, if all you have is a desktop shortcut, then SEP SBE shouldn't even be squawking about anything, so excluding the UNC would be pointless.

That is, unless you've seen otherwise.  And if so, what - exactly - was the message from SEP SBE?
