  • 1.  how to assign subnets to notification servers in Hierarchy

    Posted Jun 04, 2014 01:58 PM

    Hello everyone,

I am new to hierarchy and replication.

I have got a task of implementing notification servers in Hierarchy. Total there are 4 notification servers. One parent and other are child notification servers.

I am a bit confused in assigning subnets.

Should i assign subnets manually to respective child as parent is not going to server any clients??

Or assign all the subnets to parent and respective subnets to child?

From where should i roll out agents in hierarchy i.e from Child NS or Parent NS.

    Please help me out.

    Hi, Krunal:

I would assign the subnets directly to the Child NSs, as they are the ones that will be using this information to assign the clients to the different Task and Package Servers that may be attached to the Child NSs.

I do this on parent, and this way its replicated to all the child servers in case I need there. In hierarchy purpose is to centeralize, so I try to do as little as possible on child servers.
