  • 1.  how to block some file types attachments

    Hi, we are using Brightmail Message Filter, how i can block some attachments like (.exe, .com,...etc)
    i have tried custom filters by configuring MIME Header but it didn't work.
    can your help.

     i already went through those documents, if you will see th attched file it is from one of them.
    i added this custome filter but it is not blocking any attachments.

    am wondering if the Brightmail Message Filter suppot blocking attachments or no.

    Hi Yasin,

    AFAIK the are no pre-built options on SBMF to detect specific types of attachments. Also for that purpose and for security reasons, I'd use a product able to do True File Type detection (like SBG) so files are not detected based on the file name extension but on their characteristics (otherwise you can i.e by-pass filters to detect executables just by changing .exe. to .txt).
