  • 1.  How to manually update Symantec Protection Engine for Cloud without Internet connection ?

    Hi all,

    everything is in the subject. I'm trying to update Virus Signature of my SPE but I don't any access to Internet from this server. So I would like to know how I could download a virus signature file from Symantec website and how I could install this file manually.

    Someone could help me please ?

    Hello James07,

    I tried to apply that it is explained in your post but I have an error when I launch 20141210-002-unix.sh :

    BEGIN Log of Intelligent Updater installation on server
    Thu Dec 11 16:25:33 CET 2014
    Validating available tools...
    which: no uncompress in (/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin)
    ERROR: Required utility missing: uncompress. Please install this
    utility before using this Intelligent Updater package.

    END Log of Intelligent Updater installation on server

    I don't understand why I have this error...

    Can you help me ?

    Have you enable definition updates through Intelligent Update ?

    James007, I was already enabled IU :).

    Rafeek, nice, my problem came from I didn't have installed ncompress. I though that when I read the error message but I didn't know what bin IU had need to uncompress signature file. But now, I have another message :

     

    ./20141210-002-unix.sh
    Validating available tools...
    Decoding Intelligent Updater package...
    Decompressing package contents...
    cat: write error: No space left on device
    Checking distribution integrity...

    ERROR:  This copy of the Intelligent Updater software package is damaged.
            Recommend you download a new copy and try-again. Remember to
            only use binary data capable transports. Also, verify that
            your system is not low on disk space or memory.


    A transcript of this installation has been saved as /var/log/iu-install.log

    Do you know what space it need ? I have 3.8G space left ...

    Hello All,

    I extended file system to 20Go but I still have an error of space and an another write error :

     

    Validating available tools...
    Decoding Intelligent Updater package...
    Decompressing package contents...

    write error onupdater.xao: No space left on device

    ERROR:  This copy of Intelligent Updater did not uncompress correctly. Verify
        that your system is not low on disk space or memory, then try the
        installation again.

    cat: write error: No space left on device
    Checking distribution integrity...

    ERROR:  This copy of the Intelligent Updater software package is damaged.

    can you check the uncompressor and decompressor are installed correctly

    No, I have test license which expires at the end of the year.

    I'm still trying to extend the file system to 40Go. We'll see ...
