TS:  The CTA receives a list of available TS's, and it will register with whatever one it desires.  This can be forced by using the Manyullay Assigned Agent option either at the Site or Site Server level, within the Site Maintence UI.

PS:  SMP checks to see if there is a PS in same subnet as client, and if there is, it will provide that PS's codebases.  If there isnt, it will check to see if there is a PS in same site as client, and if there is, it will provide that PS's codebases.  If there isn't, it will provide its own codebases, if configured to do so.

    Hi,

as SK mentioned it's described in short way here: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO62685

If no sites are defined for a package server or a task server, Notification Server uses the following rules:

    • Notification Server first tries to find any site servers on the same subnet as the requesting computer. If any are found, these site servers are returned to the Symantec Management Agent.

    • If no site servers are in the same subnet as the requesting computer, all site servers are returned to the Symantec Management Agent.

    • If no site servers are available, the agent is directed to the Notification Server computer.

    Regards
