  • 1.  How to upgrade the SEP client only to the latest with older SEPM ?

    Hi All,

    My current server got SEP Client version 11.0.6005.562 but I need it to upgrade to the latest SEP Client version 11.0.7200 that is can be managed by the manager which is now running SEPM version version.

    Can i just uninstall the client and then install the latest SEP v 11.0.7200 and drop the existing Sylink.xml into the directory to be managed by the existing SEPM v11.0.6005.562  ?

    yes, thats the one way to do it.

    the other way is you can import the client packages 11 ru 7 MP2 into SEPM then export the package as managed client and push to the client.

    Cool,

    Glad to hear that Pete so after the uninstallation, I will need to do:

       smc -stop

   copy the Sylink.XML (overwrite existing)

   smc - start

    after install of SEP client new version ( RU 7 MP2) you need to perform those commands to stop smc service, copy sylink file and start smc service.

    i just posted couple of links , why not export the package which is managed client?

    PS: :-) as mentioned in earlier comments of your it is recommended t have SEP client at the same or lower version of the SEPM. Just thought to mention in case if i haven't.

    hopefully the warning below from the release note is for the SEPM only not the client.

    This MP2 release of Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 Release Update 7 (RU7 MP2) can only be installed over RU 7 or RU7 MP1 - Do not attempt to install this release over earlier versions. It must be installed over RU7 or RU7 MP1
