  • 1.  HPCM - Supported System List

We have been running HP Client Manger 6.2 here for over a year.  We have almost 8,000 computer reporting to it.  Of these, there should be approximately 6,000 HP Desktops and Laptops.  These were catagorized correctly under Managed HP Desktops and Managed HP Laptops until now.

We are starting to purchase new HP models so we updated the supported system list.  We downloaded the udpated .xml file from Altiris ( http://www.altiris.com/docs/support/HPClientManager/HPCMSSupportedSysIds_6_2.xml ).  It looks to be successful since all the new models show up when we select the "Show Supported System List" button.

The HP collections have gone awry with each only having under 500 objects.  There is no logic as to what is listed here since it contains some of our oldest HP models and only a few of our newest.  When I look at the details of any HP computer that isn't listed, it looks okay with all the detailed inventory data.  The only thing wrong is most aren't part of the HP collections.

I've left this for about 3 weeks to see if it could resolve itself.  It hasn't.  PLEASE HELP!

I found a workaround in case anyone is interested.  I had to re-run the 'Discover HP Computers' task on all computers in order to resolve the appropriate collections (e.g. Managed HP Desktops, Managed HP Laptops).  I haven't had to do this before when updating supported systems list but I guess I do now.
