    Hello,

As the title says, i'm trying to give my computers a specific netbios name which matches the ID sticker they bear on their side.

My problem is, after reimaging them they all have the same netbios name and i don't know how to do it properly through a configuration task.

Right now my computers reports to the console with the specific name i gave them, and i wish i could somehow "freeze" this state so that the console would keep these informations (specific name + domain membership) and apply them automatically after reimaging.

But I have still not figured out how configuration tasks works because they always end up with an error -99 and they prevent the reimaging session to work too.

Assuming what i said make sense to you too, how would you go and do that ?

Your help would be pretty much appreciated.

    Fabrice,

The way you would go about this is to create a configuration task and then navigate to the Microsoft Networking tab. From this screen you will have the option to specify a range for machine names or use a token.

    Range :

    configure range.PNG

    Token:

    modify_config.png.

You will then specify a domain that you want the machine to join in the Domain field. You can place this or multiple machines into OU's as well by following the below example. This would place the machine into the Computers->Laptops->Dells folder.

    OU : Test.local/Computers/Laptops/Dells

After you have creating your configuration task, you would then run this on a machine that is booted into the production environment. It should quickly run, reboot and the rename and join the domain.
