  • 1.  Importing another helpdesk data

    Has anyone imported data from another helpdesk package. Specifically, we have BMC's Track-it helpdesk, with 11 years worth of data. i would like to import that information into Servicedesk.

    It's doable; I imported from trackit a couple years ago. I'll see if I can dig up the workflow I built for it.

    That could be fun! Don't we all like a migration.

    There are a number of things to think about.

    • Is this for Open and Closed Tickets?
    • Do you have the same Groups set up in both systems?
    • Closed: Are you looking to do a SQL to SQL? Might be worth looking at the following article as you could amend the SQL to get data from TrackIt

    There are a number of posts on here about creating a Ticket using IncidentManagement asmx

    Workflow is a great solution for doing the whole job, we've done a number of migrations from various different products, as it allows a lot of flexibilty to configure what happens for different tickets.

    Have you been using SD or WF long?
