  • 1.  Importing jdb file on SEPM: nothing happens

    Posted Sep 20, 2017 09:44 AM

I have a SEPM server on an air-gapped network. I've been updating it via a LiveUpdate Administrator server which could connect to the Internet, but now that's become unavailable.

When I copy the jdb files according to this guide https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH102607.html , nothing happens. I think the permissions are OK. Lots of sem... users have rights.

I've tried both the dark network definitions (which I want) and the normal definitions:

I'm running version 14.0.2415.0200 on the SEPM server. The server has been upgraded from version 12:

I hope someone can help, maybe let me know which logs I could look at.

    Thanks,

    Marius

Are you getting any .err files? Download and run the symDiag tool locally on it to see if any error messages come up.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I don't get any err files (I left the jdb files for over 24 hours, nothing). SymDiag gives just one error about SEPM: There is only 21 GB of free space on C:\. I think this should be enough though. I have also tried to reboot the server.

Any errors in the scm-server-0.log file?

    try this

Open a command line, Start > Run > CMD

    Navigate to C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Bin

     Type in the following commands

    lucatalog.exe -cleanup

    lucatalog.exe -forcedupdate

Do you get any errors in the sesmlu.log file as decribed in the below article?

Oh no! (bangs head on desk). We had moved the data location to D:\Symantec\.... a few years ago!

Thanks for pointing me to the sesmlu.log, which for future reference is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\logs.

This log contained this path with D:\, and gave away the correct inbox dir.

Thanks a lot for the help! It immediately created a directory when I dropped in the jdb, but the defs aren't updated yet. Anyway, if it doesn't update, that will be a different problem.
