Here is my attempt at a question.  I have had no luck in getting an answer yet, hopefully I will get suprised.
Scenario:  I have an appliance or using a service in front of my mail gateway.  The appliance or service has the ability to prevent email from getting in that is larger than 50mb.  A sender sends out an e-mail with 75mb worth of attachments and the e-mail gets bounced.  The sender receives a message stating that the e-mail needs to be less in size and it needs to be resent to the recipient.  Now comes the hard part, can there a message be sent to the recipient stating that there was an e-mail intented for them and was bounced due to system limitations?  I would like to know if the recipient can be informed that an e-mail was being sent to them but blocked due to system rules.

    Thanks,

    William

    Hello William,

For sending a notification to sender or a recipient stating the email has been blocked system limitation or company policy, you can create a notification & use it into a compliance policy where any of email gets trigerred within that compliance then he will get a notification which you have created.

Ok, so if I create a policy in your Brightmail product stating not to push through e-mails with a size of more than 50MB, I can create a notification that gets sent to both the Sender and Recipient?  If that is true, what is the product number?

    Hi,

Yes, you can manually define whether you want to send a notification to a sender or a recipient. Well by default appliance recieves mail upto 10MB. You can define this policy to any of the version of SBG.
