  • 1.  Installation ITMS 7.1 via proxy

    Posted Apr 07, 2011 11:02 AM

    Hi All!

I downloaded installation package of ITMS 7.1 from Symantec site.

I'm trying to install it on Windows 2008 R2 server, internet access is via proxy. Proxy authentication is required.

My problem is that I can't use this installer because it can't get access to internet via proxy:

"The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required."

And I can't type my credentials, because there's no place for them, and installer stops :)

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

In addtion, I would just install SQL Express separately, it might bump you along quicker. I had a full version of SQL installed prior to running the installer. Needless to say, my proxy settings were set correctly in IE and are ignored during the intial install phase.

Based on my experience with this recently, and I have a LOT, if you are using a PAC file it won't work. What seemed to always work for me was to configure the proxy server information in the "Proxy Server" section of the LAN Settings in IE (Tools->Internet Options->Connections Tab->LAN Settings). Anything else turned up an authentication error. If you do that then the Auto Detect feature of SIM will work. You can download the zip file but you may still run into issues where you cannot download some components. I had that problem and am still playing clean up.

I posted the same thing in your other post as well. Hope it helps.
