Endpoint Protection

Hello everyone, my Symantec Endpoint 11.0.7 is currently installed on 2003 server, but is not aquiring new definitions.

I am trying to move it to a Virtual 2008 R2 running on Hyper V, after i installed the IIS v6 support, it is stopping during install with an error that VISTA is not supported. Everything I have read says that 11.0.7 is able to run on 2008 R2.

Could it be that it is a virtual server, and not reporting correctly to the application that it is 2008?

I have never had this issue installing on Virtuals.

Any help would be appreciated, I cannot find anything online for this.

OK, any idea why I am getting the error that it thinks it is being installed on Vista?

I tried both a 2008 Standard 32 bit, and a 2008 R2, both gave me the same error.

I tried installing the Live Update first, and that worked fine, its just the management console that errors.

Did you try the latest for 11 which is 11.0 RU7 MP3? I'm not finding much in the public KB about this issue.

Also just an fyi but 11.x is going end of life Jan 5th, 2015 and will stop receiving updates and support will stop.

OK, so we figured out the issue, and this is probably second nature to some.

The version we were trying to install was 11.0.78 and I just found out that 11.0.5 is actually 5000, so it is newer than the version I was trying to install.

Thank you for the advice, and also for the heads up on the end of life, we are planning to update in the spring.

Also, we did download RU7, and that went in fine.
