  • 1.  Installing a Temp Copy on PGP Command Line for Server Migration

We are using Command Line 10.1 in production on Windows server 2003, and are planning to migrate to Windows 2008. I need to have a full version of Command Line running for 60 days on the new server to test with multiple customers, soaking in a production simulation scenario before we can cut over and shutdown the 2003 server.

Sales informed me that I can simply install a second version of our PGP Command Line on the new server, and activate it with the same license without impacting the production version. Is this correct? If not, what can you you recommend?

What you want to do is explicitly permitted, per section 3c of the End User License Agreement for PGP Command Line:

    c. Non-Production Server and Outsourced Services. This license authorizes you to internally install and use PGP Command Line on an equivalent number of non-production servers as the number of your Licensed Servers solely for redundancy, staging and/or testing purposes; provided that the copies you make contain all of PGP Command Line’s copyright, trademark, and other proprietary rights notices.
In addition, you may utilize the services of third party contractors solely to aid your use of PGP Command Line. Use of PGP Command Line by such third party contactors on your behalf will be governed by the terms of this Agreement, and will require that you purchase a license for each copy utilized by such third parties. Any breach of this Agreement by your third party contractor(s) will be deemed to be a breach by you.
