Asset Management Suite

Hi there,

I have been searching for specific differences about two products:

-Symantec Inventory Solution powered by Altiris Technology 7.6

-Symantec Asset Management Suite powered by Altiris Technology 7.6

Could anyone tell me what are the major differences and components involved on each solution?

What is the best option for hardware/software inventory?

HI nesmac,

Inventory solution is used to collect the Hardware, Software, User Inventory from managed clients.

Inventory solution requires inventory solution plugin to be installed on client to run inventory policies and collect the information from managed clients.

Hence Inventory solution require licenses as per clients (500 clients= 500 node licenses)

Whereas,

Asset Management solution is installed only On Notification Server (In Hierarchy only on Parent Server)

Asset management solution work closely with Inventory Solution to synchronize the Inventory information of the managed clients like hardware details, Installed Softwares and Users information. (Inventory to Asset Synchonization)

Moreover,Asset Management Solution is used to manage every Asset (Hardware/software/Network/IP Phones/ Mobile Phones etc) of organization from PO to Disposal.

AMS uses Concurrent license i.e. 1 Licence can be use by multiple users but only one user at a time.
