  • 1.  Issue joining server to cluster after failure.

    Hi All,

So I have a 2 server cluster for Symantec PGP Universal Server. A while ago now the RAID controller failed on one of the servers. This has now been replaced. At this point the failed server was rebooted to see if it could be saved. Tried fsck.ext3 from live CD to repair the server but sadly it was broken too badly. I then tried to re-install and restore from backup. This failed to work for what ever reason. So next point of call was to re-install again and try to add the new server to the excisting cluster using the same IP and FQDN as before. I got to the point of adding the new server in to the cluster on the working server and the new server showing waiting for the connect to take place. At this point it states it cannot connect to the new server. This is a tad odd as I can SSH to the working server and ping both NICs that are in the server and the FQDN.

I am currently trying to reinstal for what feels like the 100th time and have changed the FQDN to a new one so that i can remove the possibility of the working server storing some information on the old server that died.

Is there a setting that am missing for adding a new server to cluster? maybe some odd setting that locks down new members to the cluster?

    Thanks

OK  So finally figured out what the issue was. The issue was that the working server was running 3.2.1 and the new server was running 3.2.0 so this would not work. I found that this was the issue by SSH to the working box and looking in the /etc/log/ovid/ it stated that it was the wrong version. So found and installed 3.2.1. on the new server and it joined the cluster no problem.
