Hi there,

I'm trying to install SEP Antivirus for Linux, i'm using RHEL 5.2 x86_64 version, for the installation i've used the packages : 

• sav-1.0.7-14.i386.rpm
• savap-x64-1.0.7-14.x86_64.rpm
• savjlu-1.0.7-14.i386.rpm

The packages installation were successfully installed but i've some problems when i try update the engine and definitions, when i set the commands: 

• /opt/Symantec/symantec_antivirus/sav  info -d
  00/00/0 rev. 0
• /opt/Symantec/symantec_antivirus/sav  info -e (here not appears anything)
• /opt/Symantec/symantec_antivirus/sav  info -p
  1.0.7.14

And when i try to update with liveupdate : /opt/Symantec/symantec_antivirus/sav  liveupdate -u i get the follows errors:
 
Command failed: Failure in pre processing of micro definitions before update.
Unable to perform update

I recommend that you open a case with Symantec support for this issue. Please post the solution here when you have found the issue.

Did you solve this problem? I got the same error message. If i use an older java version 1.5_17 it works almost on every Suse 10 sp2. But sometimes it stops to work and sometimes i can´t get it to work again.
If i use java 1.6_7 i get the same error message as you.

Error: "Command failed: Failure in pre processing of micro definitions before update" when running LiveUpdate from a command line in SAV for Linux 1.0.x

 

Situation:

You run Liveupdate in SAV for Linux using the following command-line and immediately get the above error. /opt/Symantec/symantec_antivirus/sav liveupdate --update

Solution:

Delete the lulock.dat and *.tmp folders from the virusdefs folder located in: /opt/Symantec/virusdefs

Do you have a large number of user groups, or a group with a large number of users?  I'm finding reference to an issue related to this, which affects microdef processing.  This issue is noted as resolved with SAVFL MR9 (1.0.9):
