Hope you are fine.i was facing issue upgrading dlp 12.5 from 12.0.i am following major setps to upgrading which are as mentioned below.

1.firstly i have a jar file of 12.0.1 to upgrade 12.5.

but when i upload this file it wil take 1 minute process and it shows some error.i am also attaching snapshots whichi will be easily to understand this issue.PFA.i am waiting your best response.

Zargham if the size of the jar file is greater than 1 GB then you would most likely face this problem , I had faced the same problem while upgrading. You need to manually upgrade the jar file on the enforce and then you will proceed further with the upgrade process.

Also, you can upgrade from 12.x directly to 12.5.
 

1. On the Enforce server open the following files in a text editor
   \SymantecDLP\Protect\tomcat\webapps\ProtectManager\WEB-INF\struts-config.xml
   \SymantecDLP\Protect\tomcat\webapps\ProtectManager\WEB-INF\struts-config-admin.xml
   \SymantecDLP\Protect\tomcat\webapps\ProtectManager\WEB-INF\struts-config-async.xml
2. Locate the line <controller nocache=”true” maxFileSize=”1000M”>
3. Update the value of maxFileSize to 3072M
   e.g. <controller nocache=”true” maxFileSize=”3072M”>
4. Restart the Vontu Manager service
5. Connect to management console and logon
6. Go to System > Servers > Overview

Validate that all services are in the running state and Discover scans are stopped then click “Upgrade” and point to the 12.5 jar. If the wizard fails, resolve to manually upgrading (extracting the Jar) like Outrageous mentioned.

I just wanted to add that you should probably go to 12.5 and then to 12.5.2.  I upgraded when 12.5.1 was available and that point release caused me some problems with my Incident Queue backing up.  That was fixed in 12.5.2.

i am using Server 2008.it is single tier installation and the Operating system is server 2008.so these steps are same for this O.S.

can you provide me the snapshots of manually upgarde 12.5 DLP.It will be make easily to perform this task...

Here is how to run an upgrade manually..

Here are the steps to do this..

On the Enforce server do the following:

1. In the "SymantecDLP\Protect\updates" directory create folder "Upgrade12_5"
2. Copy the upgrade JAR file into that NEW folder
3. Rename the jar file to a 'zip' file
4. Extract the file into that directory (so the files are under the "Upgrade12_5" directory)
5. Open a command line windows "run as Administrator"
6. cd to the "Upgrade12_5" directory
7. run the start_locall_Upgrade.bat" file
8. It will then run a process to start the upgrade service.
9. On your browser go to port 8300 of the Enforce Server "https:enforceservername:8300"
10. Follow the instructions.. for upgrading.
