  • 1.  Issues after upgrading to SEP RU5

    Posted Nov 27, 2009 06:04 AM
    Hi,

We have upgraded our SEPM to RU5 and faced the following issues.

    1) When we add client install package on the group having Windows XP SP3 operating systems, the clients got upgraded successfully but they have only omponents [AV/AS and PTP]. Earlier they were having all the 3 components with MR4MP2 version. We have restarted the machines 3-4 times but still the issues persist.

    2)  We have created customised package and install the same on 3-5 fresh formated machines having XP and Vista O/S, it got successfully installed but these machines after reboot shows only 2 components [AV/AS and PTP].

    3) Client machines are changing groups automatically. Jumping to any other group.

I did open the case with symantec and they are currently investigating the same. Will post more details as soon as i get from Symantec Team

Just to make sure everything went fine with the upgrade, you can check the upgrade.log in sepm\tomcat\logs. And search for errors.

    Hi,

One one of the machines that is still on MR4Mp2, you can assign the install package to that group. Disable the windows firewall on the client, set the windows firtewall service to disabled and then monitor the upgrade to that client.

check the install log on the clients who upgraded, and are facing this issue. Post the logs here (as attachment to your inital post)

    Cheers,

    Hi Aniket,

    We have tried this.

Please find the attached error for the logs in SEP>Logs>Clien Management> System logs.

11/27/2009 5:01:40 PM Warning Failed to disable Windows firewall
11/27/2009 5:01:40 PM Critical Failed to install teefer driver
11/27/2009 4:19:20 PM Warning Failed to disable Windows firewall
11/27/2009 4:19:20 PM Critical Failed to install teefer driver

We are getting this error continously in System logs for SEP client.

When we put the Windows fire service to manual, and then if we modify the SEP installation from Add/Remove to remove the NTP component. restart and then again Add/remove program> modify> Select NTP>install it gets install.

I checked the same case with MR4MP2 and it reported to be working fine with Windows firewall service as disabled.
