I know this is a fairly common problem, I've read the knowledge base articles that usually resolve the problem, but there must be some idiosyncracies in this case that are causing additional problems.
The operating system involved is Redhat enterprise server 7.3. The SEP client version is 12.1.7061.6600.
The error message I'm getting when running ./sav liveupdate -u is -
Command failed: Problem with LiveUpdate.
Check that java directory is in PATH
Unable to perform update
The Java version installed is oracle java, as provided by the Redhat 3rd party oracle java repository:
symantec_antivirus]# java -version
java version "1.8.0_131"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_131-b31)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.131-b31, mixed mode)
The java JCE cryptography extensions are installed (local_policy.jar and US_export_policy.jar), downloaded from oracle.com. I copied the downloaded jar files into the following directory and made backup copies of the originals -
/usr/lib/jvm-private/java-1.8.0-oracle-1.8.0.131-1jpp.1.el7_3.x86_64/jce/vanilla/
/etc/Symantec.conf has the base directory listed as the following -
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.8.0-oracle-1.8.0.131-1jpp.1.el7_3.x86_64/jre/bin
The Symantec installer seemed to run mostly without error, the only message being about X11 not installed so certain extensions aren't needed.
Not sure what to do from this point, since I think I got all the prerequisites correct before running the SEP installer.
I'm wondering if maybe Redhat is putting out a different version of oracle java than what you'd get directly from the oracle.com website. ??
