  • 1.  IT Management Suite 7.6 HF5 is now available

    IT Management Suite 7.6 HF5 is available through SIM. The release has the following highlights:

    • The Prepare for Image capture task is updated to address the disabled Start and Search options' issue for Windows 10 operating system when the Sysprep task is run.
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 is now supported. Note: SQL Server 2012 SP2 is not certified for IT Analytics and ServiceDesk.
    • Symantec Management Agent and solution plug-ins can be installed on RHEL 7.1. 
    • Patch Management Solution supports computers with Suse Linux Enterprise Server 12.
    • Task Server installation is supported on a computer with Windows 10.
    • Addressed 35 customer escalations.

    So no OSX 10.11 support? El Capitan is here and the dev builds have been available for quite some time.

    We are also struggling with OSX 10.11 on 7.6.   We were able to get the agent working on one machine but not anohter.   One the one machine I had to tweak some default filters but was able to get CEM working but now we are having issue with software delivery.  Can we at least expect an early support statement soon so we know what the limitations are on 10.11?

    Very disapointing that Mac OS X 10.11 support is not part of this update.

    The Symantec Endpoint Protection team dropped an update last week to add support for Mac OS X 10.11. I was certainly expecting the Altiris team to follow suit. Dropping the ball for the folks that support Macs. :-(

    The SMP agent install on OS X 10.11 is failing due to the addition of 'System Integrity Protection' to El Capitan. This is also (inappropriately) referred to as 'rootless'. 

    This addition prevents even the 'root' user from making changes within the /usr and other directories. We, along with other software development companies, need to find a way to work within the constraints imposed by System Integrity Protection. It's kind of a big deal.

    It is kind of a big deal, but Apple let everyone know about it months ago.

    The Endpoint Protection team was able to deliver an update last week that added 10.11 support.

    All you need to do is switch from /usr/bin to /usr/local/bin as your default location for everything. If I update the Altiris config file for that location and then run:

    /opt/altiris/notification/nsagent/bin/aex-configure-bin -configure

    I can at least get the agent to startup on Mac OS X 10.11.

    All the sub agents fail to install, but if you guys simply do a global replace on the source code to point to /usr/local/bin instead of /usr/bin and re-complile I would expect you would be nearly done.
