Hi,
I am using Google Chrome. Every time I start Chrome, IT Security Threats <http://www.symantec.com/security_response/> pops up. I've checked my settings and cannot find any way to make this stop.
Can anybody help me make it stop?
This is a configurable option in the SEP AV policy to specify an address to use as the home page when a security risk changes it
Are you using SEP? Have you run a full scan in safemode with the latest definitions?
I'm not. I believe that something Symantec was offered with our cable internet but I do not have it installed or anything. I tend to be rather computer-dumb, so if there is anything that I need to check, don't assume I'll know how to do it...haha.
Do you have AV software on your PC? I would suggest running a full scan with it.
I ran Webroot and CCleaner and neither found anything. I'm so mystified. If I launch IE, it only goes to the homepage. If I launch GChrome, it goes to the Threats Report (priortized) and to my homepage.
Run a malwarebytes scan as that is usually the most reliable.
Aside from that, it could just be a leftover remnant stuck in the registry somewhere
