If your Clients are taking definitions from SEPM then it will be 21-12-2009 rev xxx
Even though if it shows31-12 definitions it will still have all current virus definition sigantures. This issue is expected to be resolved either today or tommorow.

If your Clients are taking updates from Internet or Liveupdate Administrator it will show 2010 definitions.

I am assuming you are talking about the virus definitions being stuck at 12-31-09. If so please consult these two pages below. The first is the official symantec status report on the issue. It states that you are still fully protected and that the 12-31-09 IS being updated with current virus definitions. You can get the most up to date information on the issue there. The second link is to a forum thread where users have been posting their thoughts on the issue (good or bad).

For the SEP Client it is January 10 ,2010 , rev 17 ( if luall.exe is run on the client)

For the SEPM the  Current certified definitions are December 31, 2009 rev 121

if the client is running Liveupdate then the definition shows as Jan 10 2009 r 17, however the SEPM issue does not seems to be fixed.

Patch for RU5 SEPM is posted on LiveUpdate Servers

Symantec Endpoint Protection Engineering has confirmed that the patch that enables MR5 SEPM to download content dated 2010 has successfully posted to our LiveUpdate servers.  Please note: it will take a total of three LiveUpdate cycles to prepare the SEPM, download the patch, and begin using and distributing 2010 definitions.   If you have manually configured their SEPM not to download the patch via LU can apply the patch manually using a standalone tool.  For more information about the issue and the patch, please see the following KB document:
