    Hello guys,

I am thinking about stopping licensing my ITMS 7.5 and DS 6.9 products in September, because maybe we are going to install Microsoft SCCM instead of ITMS 8.0 next motnhs.

My licenses ending end of september.

Is this a good idea? Can my computers still get software, can I deploy computers with my expired license, and only support from Symantec is stopped, or is everything stop working?

    Thanks for answer,

    BR, David

Everything should still work. Except that you are unable to open any case at symantec and you don't receive any new updates/patches in Patch Management. So if your using Patch Managment you will run into a security issue with your machines.

A further problem with Patch Management is that when new updates are released, if you install them another way (you could still use Software Delivery) Patch Management won't realise and still try and install obsolete patches, you'll have to disable them manually as they are superseded.

from what I just read a few things happen...

License expiring means all that is in Altiris now will still function excpet Patch management.

In addition - ANY new machines, new data, new inventory, etc.. will be discarded.

I am in a different route. I am looking at what Altiris can do out of the box with 0 solutions. We have a different department that uses nothing and Altiris would be nice then laster maybe their department would vouce for the cost of licensing.

for now im trying to get them setup and get basic inventory, etc to show reporting, etc... I currently use CMS on 4k machines so Im good.. hah

There's a difference between a temporary install (demo) licence expiring and Annual Upgrade Protection (Maintenance) expiring.

If AUP expires all the solutions will continue to function except that new Patches won;t be downloaded.

If demo licences expire then the solution pretty much stops working.

We are in the same situtation as the orginal poster, I understand that patch management will stop getting updates. My question is around new workstations and deploying software after the licenses expire. Will I still be able to deploy software to a new workstation? Also will we be able to get basic inventory inforamtion?

    Thanks Jason

As long as it's only your Annual Upgrade Protection that's expiring and not the licences themselves (for example if they were 30 day trial licenses).

So if your licences are active but the annual upgrade protection has expired everything will work except new Patches.
