Endpoint Protection

Hi

Some clients won't install correctelly since I get no little green circle. I have trieded several ways to solve the problem like sylinkdrop, reinstall the client and so on. Now I used SylinkMonitor and got following log.

  I may be jumping the gun a little, but it sounds a bit like a problem I was having a while back. Out of curiosity, if you check the troubleshooting window on the client, does it say the server is offline? I was having the problem where the client thought the server was offline, and I wouldn't get the green dot.

You might want to start with simply troubleshooting the general connection problems. A very useful article can be found here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/troubleshooting-client-commuincation. However I am thinking it is a bad proxy setting that is your problem, so I would look closely at the article where it talks about setting up the proxy. Also are you able to ping the SEPM from the client? The green dot suggest you probably can't but I thought I should ask anyway.

I got the solution.  The local system account on the PC had a proxy server entry.

Doing following did the job
Back up registry
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedt32, and then click OK.
3. Locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections.
4. Right Click on Connections from the menu, click Export.
5. In the Save inbox, select a location in which to save the .reg file, type a file name in the File name box, and then click Save.

Remove DefaultConnectionSettings & SavedLegacySettings
1. Delete the following registry keys:
HKEY_USER\.DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections\DefaultConnectionSettings
HKEY_USER\.DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections\SavedLegacySettings
2. Reboot the system.

Tried this solution and worked perfectly. Had the same problem as the initial support call. We have more than 300 client workstations and only a few weren't connecting to the SEPM. One or two did need to have the solution applied twice but then connected second time around.
