Protection Engine for Network Attached Storage

Hello all,

we have a problem on the Scan Engine servers with Java Live Update. It fails always with error code 246. We have already set the downloadCacheSize to 5368709120 and disabled the cacheMode. But it still does not work.

We are using our own Live Update Administrator. The Scan Engine servers should get their updates via FTP.

Could anyone help us please?

Hi # Something went wrong with my last post, so you may see the answer more than once. Do you have enough disk space on C: drive? The log says "IdsDiskSpaceFail" when working under "C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Java LiveUpdate\Downloads" folder, so there must be some problem with it. Can you try changing "workdir" folder setting in your liveupdate.conf file, to some where that has big disk space and see if it makes any difference? Regards, Haro

there are 20GB free on C:\. I think that should be enough. I have deleted all the content in that folder. But it still does not work.

there are 20GB free on C:\. So I think that should be enough. I deleted all old files in the Download folder, but that does not solve the issue. We had that problem also on our Domino servers. There was the solution to change the value of downloadCacheSize. But that does not solve our issue on the Scan Engine servers.

Hi, Do you have some kind of AntiVirus software running on your system? How about excluding the folder specified in your workdir from getting scanned? Regards, Haro

I now was able to reproduce the issue on my test Linux system.

The log file should have "FreeSpace available on ...." line to indicate the free space LiveUpdate has recognized. So you should recheck your liveupdt.log file.

It should have at least the file size to download, e.g. "2,369.049 (in MB)" with above log file, plus 1GB for unzipping the files.

 

BTW, about SEP, it is always good idea to exclude LiveUpdate workdir folder and Scan Engine installation folder from scanning with AntiVirus softwares, as it will cause mishap on some situations.

the support found a solution for our problems. It was a setting in the liveupdate.conf:

set "cacheMode=false" in liveupdate.conf and make it "Read-Only" file
