  • 1.  Liveupdate Administrator vs SEP Manager

    Hi Guys,
Im new to SEP and have been setting up a few new SEP servers for my enterprise.

Currently I have successfully setup a few SEP Manager Servers and have distributed packages and updates to clients without issue HOWEVER I am now venturing down the road of centralised updates.

    Current Setup:
    1 Head Office Management Server
4 State Office Management Servers (1 for each state office)
    All servers connected VIA VPN.

Currently each of these servers acts as the local update provider to each of its clients (20 to 30).

I would like to know however, how to create a single update server which each of the MANAGEMENT servers obtain their updates from (packages, definitions etc).

From my research into LiveUpdate Administrator it appears as if it can create Distribution servers however it looks asif these distribution servers act as update providers to the clients rather then the servers.

I would still like my clients to obtain their updates from the local Management server however I would like the management server to obtain its updates from a single update source, rather then have each management server download their updates individually.

    Is this possible?
    Any assistance would be fantastic.

It depends on how you configure the Liveupdate Administrator.

Once the liveupdate adminsitrator (LUA) download the definitions it is publishes it via HTTP/FTP/UNC.
So after configuring LUA you just need the Distribution link ...server name\CLU-PROD

So if you put this link to ADMIN -> Local Sire Properties->Liveupdate->Source Server
The nthe Manager will be updated via LUA and then all the clients will pull the updates from SEPM.

If you configure a group with the LUA URL the clients of that group will contact LUA and download the defs.

You can also configure 2nd LUA with the LUA URL to get the updates from 1st LUA.

Please insert the Disk-2 of SEP. From Autorun click on "Install LiveUpdate Administrator" to install live update server.
