Hi everyone! I have a problem with the definitions updates on the server and the clients.

When the clients use internet conection to get the updates, this error came up.

I tried the 3 types of communications, with proxy, proxy with user and password, and without proxy. This error starts on the migration 11.x to 12.1.

With the 11.x version, I don't have this problem.

event id is different !!

do u use proxy?

open control pannel, open liveupdate,set it to interactive, set proxy proxy info.

start

type luall.exe

does it run?

Make sure you are able to ping

liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com

liveupdate.symantec.com

I understand that luall.exe is no longer part of sep 12. Now we use SepLiveUpdate.exe this is correct?

Ping on liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com fails, Perhaps my firewall is blocking the access.

Please add excpetion for above also there few port number which needs to be set as exception

The client will communicate from a local random port to the internal LiveUpdate server ie Sep manager and Sep manager would also take updates from ports if open . The destination port would be the one used for ftp or http (21 and 80 respectively).

So it goes >>Sepmanager >>>>>Symantec lu server

Sep client>>>to Sepmanager for lu

If manager fails and if setting is enabled

Sep client directly to Symantec lu server .

I'm so much into SEP hard to get used to few changes :)

That's correct.  SEP 12.1 introduces a whole new LU technology "under the hood."  Luall.exe only works with the older technology that was in SAV 10 and SEP 11.

SepLiveUpdate.exe is intended for use in scripts to run LiveUpdate outside of its usual scheduled times.  For testing and troubleshooting, I recommend hitting the "LiveUpdate" button in the SEP 12.1 GUI rather than trying to run SepLiveUpdate from the comamnd line!  &: )

me also facing the same problem.i install the SEP12.1 unmanage client, computer is behind the proxy.

after install there is no "liveupdate" icon created in the control panel.

where should i go to, in order to configure the proxy setting?
