Since the migration from RU5 up to RU6, our SEPM isn´t upgrading its definition files. The only things it gets via LU are client packages...
Tried to run LU manually, it lists several definition file updates, downloads them...but when installing, the last update shows "finishing installation....". After that, LU summary shows everything upgraded well - but the 'Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager content catalog' failed to install due to Error 1846...

- Did a repair of LU, re-registered its content catalog, ran the update several times manually, purged the cache - nothing worked!
- Upgraded the SEP client on SEPM manually to 11.0.6005.562
- ran LU from the SEPM console - only client package updates are shown (and up to date)
- implemented a .jdb-file - definitions are upgraded without errors!  
- also followed several instructions from here - no one did it...

any hints?

Open command prompt .Browse to \Program Files \Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin .Execute the command lucatalog -cleanup and lucatalog -update and try...

I did that, too...same problem!

Repair SEPM from add/remove programs and follow above steps...

Followed the steps - nothing changed... 

Which is your source server?Internal LUA or Internet...

Source is Internet directly
EDIT: Tried to use our internal FTP/HTTP-Server for upgrade - SAME error!

LiveUpdate returned a non-critical error. Available content updates may have failed to install.

Which is the version of the liveupdate you are trying to install?Are you using the lusetup which is present in RU 6CD..?

No, it is the newest version from symantec - but it also failed with the original one...

post the log.liveupdate file from the documents and seetings\all users\application data\symantec\liveupdate\ after you manually run the liveupdate from SEPM console

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 11.x is not updating 32 or 64 bit virus definitions.

Same procedure...got some locked files in the ~\virusdefs\, but removed them. Then started LUALL.EXE - but the error appeared again, as shown on the picture above.

I Have exact the same problem on my server ,
I also upgraded from RU5 To RU6. My server is't updating the definitions anymore ,
The folder \program files\Symantec\Symantect Endpoint protect manager\data\inbox\content is fillig up with folders end on .tmp.

I also reinstaled LU ,
ran lucatalog -cleanup and lucatalog -update
when I drop a jdb file into the incomming folder the server updates the definitions on the manager and the clients.

I ran out of things to test of try ..
any help is welcome to solve this issue.

After removing Liveupdate do you deleted following folders before installing it back?
C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate 
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate

if no uninstall liveupdate,remove above folders,register it back with SEPM...

uninstalled LU, removed all folders, purged lost registry entries pointing on "liveupdate", reinstalled LiveUpdate from CD RU6, registered LU with SEPM...
Then I configured LuCONFIG.EXE with 'advanced error support' and 'interactive mode' - ran LU and the 'content catalog'-error didn´t appear.

Ran LU from within SEPM console - definitions are updated!

Wrong/not matching version of LiveUpdate...

That did the trick ,

I uninstalled Liveupdate ( version was 3.5.0.64 )
deleted the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate. the other one was already gone.
Restarted the server.
Installed Lu from the DVD of RU6 build (version 3.3 )
ran lucatalog -update from the command line

I logged on to the console and started LU
Now it downloaded everything and updated the definitions of the SEP server

It is always recommendable to use liveupdate 3.3 with enterprise products.That is why I asked you from were you are installing liveupdate.The Live update present in cd is 3.3...
